Facilities

Is it OK for faculty members or students to modify their studio spaces?

Generally, no. They may hang whatever appropriate reference materials they want (no culturally, politically, or sexually offensive or explicit images, please) on the tackable surfaces adjacent to their desks. But they may not move furniture, paint surfaces (no graffiti), bring in sofas, remove stools, appropriate cabinets, drill holes, attach fasteners, or otherwise modify the walls-ceilings, floors, or other construction, finishes, or furnishings in their spaces without the explicit approval of the associate dean.

Can I use the wood shop?

The shop has its own policies, primarily there for the safety of those using the facility. They are:

  • Each user must complete a training session given by the Head of CUArch Shops.
  • Each user must read and sign the School of Architecture and Planning's Shop Policies Statement, and thereafter comply with it.
  • Each user must sign a waiver.
