Instructions for Making and Using a Team "Share" Space
Concept: To be used by a group, ArchiCAD and other shared files need to be stored on a "share", a place from which they can be used communally. In order for students or instructors to access the "share", they must "map a network drive" to the share. To do this, follow these instructions:
NOTE: The arrangement described in this webpage works only for computers that are on campus and connected to the CUA network. It will not work from off campus.
Directions:
- Click "Start" in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Select My Computer
- Click the Tools Menu
- Select "Map Network Drive"
- Select a Drive Letter (any one you like)
- Enter the Share name (\\cuasentj\Arch402$) in the Folder field.
- Click on "Connect using a different user name"
- A new window will pop up prompting for a Username and a password
- In the Username field, type CUA\<username>, using your user name in place of <username>. For example, if your username is 99smith, you would type CUA\99SMITH
- In the password field, type your CUA password.
- Click "OK". The window will close.
- Click "Finish". The share will be mapped with those user credentials. Once the drive is successfully mapped, users will find a link to it on "My Computer", along with the usual links to their C drive and other drives. You might want to create a desktop icon for your share drive by right clicking on the link, dragging it onto your "desktop", and then selecting "create shortcut here".
- Once you map the share drive, open it. You'll find all of the team folders. Students will only be able to access their team's work, while the CBDS faculty will be able to access any team's work.
Mac Users:
While I do not have a Mac, if you are a Mac user, you can probably use the COMMAND-K key sequence to map the drive or use the GO Menu "Connect to Server" option as \\cuasentj\Arch402$.
You will then be prompted for user credentials to map this drive. Please note the reverse use of slashes for MAC users ( / ) compared to Windows users ( \ ).
