Instructions for making a team website

OPTION A: Using the CUA Network for your website

Every team has been given CUA webspace in which to create a team website. It is passworded so only you and your teammates can modify it, although anyone will be able to visit it. To use it, see below.

Please send Prof. Ally an e-mail letting her know your team name so she can hyperlink your website to the Arch402 website.

  1. Every time you want to work on the web page
    1. Open a web browser
    2. Go to http:cms.cua.edu
    3. Log in using your CUA account name and password
  2. If this is your first use of this system, you'll need to create a home page. To do that...
    1. Click on "Manage Web Pages and Files"
    2. Go to the box at the top marked "Create a new file".
    3. Type the word "index" in the box
    4. Click on the icon just to the right of the box.
    5. A new window will open. Create your team's home page. Use the icons at the top to edit it. They allow you to change font, add hyperlinks to text, use bullets, insert tables, etc.
    6. When you're satisfied (and you can come back any time to edit it), click on "Update Page" at the very top of the window.
  3. If you want to change a previously created webpage, find it in the folder and click on the icon in the "Edit" column, and it will open. If there's no icon in that column, you can't edit it here. Instead, download it to your computer (using the icon in that column), edit it using your own software, and then re-upload it.
  4. If you want to insert images...
    1. Click on "Image Manager"
    2. Use the boxes at the top to upload .jpg's, etc. into the system.
    3. When they're all in, click "back" to go to the earlier webpage and click on "Manage Web Pages and Files", clik on "edit" for the page into which you want to insert the image.
    4. Put your cursor where you want to image to appear.
    5. Click on the "insert image" icon at the top.
  5. NOTES:
    1. This system is separate from the share space where you keep your ArchiCAD files.
    2. If you want to set up a chat room on your webpage, we'll have to look into it. Please contact Prof. Yatt for more information.

OPTION B: Setting up a website independently

If you prefer something a little less restricted and easy to use, consider trying Microsoft Office Live. (This is not an endorsement.) You have to give them a credit card number, but they only charge you if you use specific services, otherwise it's free.

For info or to start a website, so to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officelive.

As above, please send Prof. Ally an e-mail letting her know your team name so she can hyperlink your website to the Arch402 website.
