John Nahra


John Nahra, Assistant Professor of Practice, is a creative and effective practitioner with a focus on architectural design and real estate development. As owner and design principal of Nahra Design Group, he leads a small team of talented professionals who execute projects throughout the Washington, DC region where he has been in the design and construction industry for more than 10 years. As a registered Architect with extensive design and construction experience, John has mastered the complex requirements of varied project types from conception to successful and profitable completion. John's project experience includes residential design, retail prototype development and roll-out in various geographic regions, restaurant/retail design, commercial mixed-use base building design and renovation, and campus master planning. His experience in the design-build construction industry lends him specialized insight into issues of constructability and construction administration. John prides himself on providing exemplary client service throughout the entire design and construction process. He pushes each of his projects to be aesthetically excellent, functionally efficient, and economically and environmentally responsible.

John earned dual degrees in Architecture and Civil Engineering, as well as a Masters of Architecture, at the Catholic University of America. John is licensed to practice architecture in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and Florida. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), National Council of Architecture Registration Boards (NCARB) and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
