Intro

Valve Corporation, an award winning video game design company based in Bellevue, WA, has agreed to give the Catholic University of America's School of Architecture and Planning licenses to their software package, The Orange Box, so students entering the dome design competition can have access to their powerful level design tools to create real-time walkthroughs of their designs.

Using this technology, designers can "playtest" their domes, placing it in the 3D model and walking through the Basilica, watching how their dome reveals itself as they explore the structure. This tool allows walkthroughs in a much more tactile and experiential way than traditional architect-prescribed 3D models; allowing designers and their clients take the control of the experience and engage the design in ways that are special to them.

Provided on this website is information on how to use the software and access the level editing software. Licenses and more information can be obtained by contacting Chris Totten at ctotten87@yahoo.com
