Tim Bertshinger

Tim Bertschinger is a Senior Design Architect at WDG Architecture and a proud alumnus of Cornell University. Having spent many of his formative years in Europe, he developed a strong interest in Architecture as an expression of human culture and history. Today that interest has expanded into a fascination with understanding how buildings best emerge as sustainable supporters of their local context through a balanced fusion of formal, economic, social, cultural, and environmental characteristics of design.  As a believer in Architecture by holistic process, he pushes for excellence through a balanced consideration of programmatic, technical, and formal aspects of the design process. His efforts have been well recognized in recent years through merit awards by the DC and Virginia chapters of the AIA for the Janelia Farm Research Campus Visiting Fellows Apartments and a first place finish in the 2011 AIA YAF Ideas Competition. As a visiting Critic/Lecturer in the Real Estate Development concentration he focuses on Urban Design. In Spring 2013, with Eric Liebmann, he lead a studio to design a LEED Platinum Certified and Net-Zero Energy Home here in the DC, currently slated to begin construction in early 2014.
