The Catholic University of America

Overview

Scholarship, the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge as an outgrowth of teaching, practice, and research, is as important a role as teaching for a university. The faculty, staff, and students of the School of Architecture and Planning are actively engaged in projects that add to the knowledge base of the multiple disciplines taught here. Some work is unique to the field of design, such as innovative building and urban design projects published in highly-respected professional journals, design competitions at local through international levels entered and won, and awards programs for writing, design, and professional achievement that recognize the excellence of our contributions. Other work is typical to all academic fields and is actively pursued here including papers presented at conferences, articles and books published in the field, research sponsored by granting organizations, and invention recognized by patents. Student projects have been among those recognized in all of these forums.
